| Live This Saturday @ UCB - improv show |
[Jun. 12th, 2008|11:25 am] |

Welp it seems like just two weeks ago I was having a graduation show at UCB, and in fact it was. I went on to a 201 Intensive class 4 classes a week, 2 weeks so...
It's time for another Gradation Show:
5919 Franklin Ave Hollywood, CA 90028 (323) 908-8702
http://losangeles.ucbtheatre.com
The show will last an hour, and I'll be in one of two groups for 20 to 25 minutes, we'll take a suggestion from the audience and then do a word association type game and create scenes on the fly off of that.
So it maybe amazing or failtacular. Either way you get to point and laugh, so it's win win for you. Right? |

[Jun. 27th, 2007|06:46 pm] |
Did an interview with my good friend and many of yours as well; David Wilson was my first interview on what I hope to make a weekly series of interviews with local artists, and creative people.
barring a few technical snafus I think it came out pretty good. So check it out. And anyone in LA that would like to be on the show send me a reply.

| The Day I Called 911 |
[Jun. 21st, 2007|04:25 pm] |
Hot Water Music:minno:if you hear this i hope it eases some troubles
I just came from Hollywood blvd. Same way I always walk to go to the cafe and then later work. Almost stepped in dog shit too. Kind of did that thing where suddenly you realized you've inadvertently kicked something, and then you look up to see the skid marks of some one who hit a full bullseye earlier.
So you thank your lucky stars Whoa that was a close one
I walk down Chahuenga.
Probably the hardest street name for newly transported people to figure out, so from here on out I'll refer to it, as "that road". Or I'll just avoid it. People like to avoid things, like dog shit, and heroics.
Still reeling in my previous days victories and todays avoidance tactics, I am to say the least distracted from the world.
So when I hear the Scccccccccccccccccrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaacccccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhh. it takes me a second.
Seam:Broken Bones:Maybe I dreamt it, I don’t think I heard it
What happens next is I look up to see a Northbound car speeding in to a turning cars front end. The south bound car sits motionless as the front quarter of the north bound bullet flies in to the air, The North bound car is push to it's right , to the east and sent careening in to a traffic light. The car hits with such force the driver side door flies open.
A traffic light on Hollywood blvd.
The Hollywood blv.
The one with all the tourists.
From my angle I can't see if it's the car or the falling traffic light, but quick, really really fast I see a man go down. Straight back, straight down to the ground.
If there's any miracle here, it's that only one pedestrian was hit in a group of about a dozen standing at that corner.
Note2Self:No, There's no miracle's here
Dinosaur Jr.:the little baby:this is totally beat man,
By now I've already got the phone out, I've never done this before.
9 1 1
it rings. Crowds gather fast and I look around to see how many other people are on their cell phones. I don't see any, in a crowd that is at least 60 people now, I don't see ANY!
it rings again, and again.
I'm starting to wonder if I somehow messed this up, dialed 912.
by the 4th ring A bicycle cop has already shown up. But I persist. It rings again. There are at least 100 people crowding on the corners. This all happened with in 1 to 2 minutes tops.
Silkworm:oh how we laughed:you know you're not alone. It's over.
by the 6th ring a second Bike cop has arrived and the first one is one some giant walkie talkie out of a 80's war movie. So I hang up.
Both drivers are limping, one car sits in the middle of a busy intersection and one sits letting off steam on the side walk.
For some reason a larger man next to the downed pedestrian has taken off his shirt.
So I go on with my day.
Jawbreaker:ashtray monument:free. alone.
I go on to the same cafe I always go to, I get my coffee, opt to add the 2 dollar large cafe cookie and try to stop shaking. My neck feels like I've been hit from behind, all whiplashy.
It's funny, yesterday was so amazing I was joking that "Tomorrows pretty much going to have to pull some crazy shit to not suck." Well you know what. I just got a big reminder.
There's no good way to end this. 3 people have had their lives dramatically changed. And I'm not going to pull some "better you than me BS" cause even though I feel it. It's in bad taste.
Jawbreaker:fine day:Fine day to sleep
Note2Self:iTunes shuffle has a bad sense of humor
So it's not like I'm having some deep spiritual moment, I'm not suddenly reflecting on everything I did in my life. But it's enough to remind me to thank my friends for being there. Enough to remind me I need to take breaks and look around, so I don't step in shit.
It's enough to remind me there's a lot of people out there who read me, watch me, root for me, and think of me when I'm not looking and I really appreciate it.
Thank you.
stay strong -Sam
5:29 PM Edit A tow truck just drove by with what I think was the northbound vehicle from the crash. Leaking fluid. |

Good Riddancee:Enter the Unapproachables:convince yourself there's better things to do

I haven't slept. Friday I woke up at 5pm and I've been awake ever since. I started what you'd I guess call 'the day' with a run to the bank. Always a good surprise seeing what's on the little balance sheet. So to get myself up and awake.. to throw my sleeping patters a curve ball... to avoid the alluring comforts of my crappy futon... I decide to walk through Hollywood, head over to few closed off streets - which I assume is being done as some precursor or test for tomorrow's marathon.

Then I start to notice dozens of people lining the street waiting, and I wonder if maybe one misguided person decided to stop and see what was happening and sit while a group of other people are tricked and follow blindly.
Weezer:hold me:
Note2Self:that's not the case
As I wander along I see a line of busses and come to find out, it is not a test run but in fact a parade for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Thankfully I always have my little camera on me, so start shooting some vide clips, but as we near my hood I decide to do something drastic.
Fugazi:Bed for the Scraping:
I can't take the thought of my crappy 5.1 MP camera and decide to run... speed walk... and then limp home 6 blocks to grab my Digital SLR. Did I eve mention how big the hill I live on is? Have you ever seen any car movie filmed in San Francisco? That hill that everyone invariable bottoms out on... that's the hill I live on today, as I limp up hill, trying to walk off a slightly aggravated ankle.. breathing in what must be arctic air that burns my lungs.
Silkworm:nerves:God damn you my friend
I grab the camera, find my second memory card, and wonder just how much space I have left on it, and whether or not I have time to download the pictures... But instead I run out the door and cut off the parade a mere 4 blocks from where I left them (thank God they're slow and do performances every couple of blocks).
I than shoot about 450+ Pictures and 10 minutes of video clips.
Knapsack:Decorate the Spine:Reverse the roles. God knows I'm not sure.
It times like these when I wish I had better lenses, and also, that i had any clue as to how one would submit these (and to where) for some kind of publication.

But alas instead I just put a bunch of them on my Flickr account. I'm going to also through them together with the video clips and do a YouTube video with more of them in a little bit (probably upload that tomorrow).
I was feeling really unaccomplished lately, trapped in routine. This really broke me out of that.
Social Distortion:Playpen (Posh Boy):
Somewhere around 7pm I fall asleep. I wake up again and it's 2 am Sunday morning. This is weird even for me, Though not completely uncommon. Today was less interesting, though I did go out to meet up with my friend and agent. She gave me some notes on my acting resume, and took a crew resume to give to a friend of hers who's looking to film his first feature. He's been and actor, and is now looking o produce.

So now to get busy will my evening, dinner, editing, and evil plans of domination.
Play me out boys.
